I made a topic here some time ago about an idea i have regarding generals mod. No one answered it so i thought i´d give it another try as i think this is an awesome idea if i do say so my self, and my friends who play generals ZH reborn all agree.
The idea is to make a mod for C&C 3, use the game engine for that, to make a mod named for example, generals 2: Reborn or just Generals: reborn, suggesting a new era in the world of the C&C generals. I know it would be a allot of work and it would be a total conversion mod but it would be so much worth it to play a much faster game engine, with todays / future weaponry and give new life to Generals. Please tell me your thoughts about this?
Just imagine to play Generals in a much smoother environment, same gameplay of course, but with more advance units as there are more advances now in military since 2002 - 2003.

I have an idea for an aircraft for Generals 2 mod, the X-47B first Navy stealth UAV, it would be awesome to see that airlplane in the mod :) http://www.as.northropgrumman.com/produ ... llery.html

I admire your enthusiasm and loyalty to the mod, but listen carefully to what your saying. Your basically telling us to throw away all our current progress and go work on a completely different engine that we don't know how to mod.

The zero hour SAGE is admittedly less powerful then the CnC 3 engine, it is good enough for our purposes. Also moving to CnC 3 will alienate a lot of Reborn fans that do not have CnC 3 or are not planning on getting CnC 3 because of financial or other reasons.

We MAY make a CnC 3 Reborn in the future, but for V7 and other future releases of ZH Reborn. Were sticking with Zero:Hour.

Oh and incase your interested, that plane can be found in Contra another ZH mod.

Thanks for that, and it is awesome to hear that you´re going to create reborn V7, not that i´m criticizing or anything, but don´t you have to finish Reborn V6 before that and it has been in development for some time now? Considering that, then when the V7 of Reborn comes out, we might well have generals 2 launched, ok.. sorry, a bit nasty of me, but it has taken allot of time, just reborn 5 took ages (which is awesome btw) and i know it is all volunteer thingy, good work guys and girls, thanks for it. I just can really imagine this mod being made and it would look AWESOME!

Any way, it doesn´t matter. I wasn´t thinking of you abandoning your current projects, no one said that, i was merely mentioning this because i thought it would be a cool project in the future.

I´m not a rich man but i buy games that i think are worth it, i buy maybe 2 games a year or not even that much and i still own every C&C game there has been released. Not that it matters, but it would be nice to see some evolution and use an engine that is really smooth and awesome and doesn´t crash with errors like "There are some errors due to a virus or over heating hardware or.. bla bla bla" (btw, if you´ve seen this error and have a fix for it, PLEASE don´t sit on it, please tell us it, it´s driving me and my friends crazy, we cannot multiplay any more!) and EA games refuse to fix it, so i thought it would be good to nail two flies in one stroke, make a mod in a faster and better engine and make an attempt to do generals 2 (mod)?

Yes I know the cause, it's called lack of polish :P

while Nuker was a good modder, he left Reborn practically bug ridden and basically in shambles, V5 was his most stable build, but V6...

Long story short we have given up on V6 are starting from V5. Do not worry though V7 will include some changes from V6 mostly from laser, tank and toxin. (The 3 VZH generals the were re-included in V6)

As for CnC 3, we'll see...

I guess you're right about everything.

Rodon, the only way you;re getting C&C3 or C&C4 based graphics with reborn, then the only way that'll happen is which you mod them which you must not be a modder, I know im replying to the request but just to let ya know

I know this is an old post, but I stumbled upon it and man, this is a good idea. I would have bought CnC 3 for this. But it sucks that there isn't enough manpower. Who knows, maybe in the future, we'll be able to bring back the Reborn series on a newer game engine, the graphics would be amazing!
